The Nottolini Aqueduct is a complex of water structures that extends for over 50 kilometers.

The aqueduct consists of a network of canals and aqueducts, some of which date back to the Roman and medieval periods.

The Nottolini Aqueduct was built by the famous Italian engineer Lorenzo Nottolini in 1837. It was designed to provide drinking water to the citizens of Lucca, as well as to supply an irrigation system for the surrounding countryside.

The network extends from Lucca to neighboring municipalities such as Villa Basilica, Pescia, and Capannori.

The Nottolini Aqueduct is a place of great tourist interest. Its structures, especially the wells, have been designed with different styles and materials that reflect the evolution of technology over the centuries.

Some structures include fountains, statues, and deity sculptures.

The Nottolini Aqueduct is an example of how engineering and architecture can be a driving force for the preservation of cultural heritage.

It has recently been declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site and has been included among the sites of cultural interest by the Italian government.

It is one of the few aqueducts still in operation in Italy and represents one of the most important testimonies to the history of engineering.

Massaciuccoli Lake is a place of great beauty located in the Tuscany region, near the city of Lucca. This lake, together with the Lipu Oasis that surrounds it, is an ideal destination for those who love nature and want to enjoy a peaceful and evocative environment.

The Lipu Oasis was created in 1984 to protect the flora and fauna of Lake Massaciuccoli and the surrounding area. This place is a protected area that extends over approximately 270 hectares and includes woods, meadows, reed beds and the lake itself. Here it is possible to admire many species of birds, including herons, peregrine falcons, buzzards and kingfishers.

The area surrounding the Lipu Oasis has been shaped by the presence of man over the centuries and preserves numerous testimonies of its history. Among the most interesting attractions there is certainly the Roman Villa of Massaciuccoli, dating back to the 1st century AD, which offers an interesting window on the Roman past of the region.

But Lake Massaciuccoli and the Lipu Oasis also offer many opportunities for nature and outdoor lovers. There are hiking trails and cycling routes that allow you to discover the beauty of the surrounding nature. Additionally, canoes and kayaks can be rented to explore the lake on your own.

One of the things that make Lake Massaciuccoli and the Lipu Oasis particularly special is their environmental value. Here, in fact, there are many species of plants and animals that are rare or in danger of extinction. For example, the lake is home to several species of fish, including pike and tench, and a variety of aquatic plants, including water lilies.

Furthermore, the presence of the Lipu Oasis has made it possible to conserve and protect many other species of animals and plants, such as the flowering of wild orchids in spring. This place is a concrete example of how man can work to protect the environment and its biodiversity.

Lake Massaciuccoli and the Lipu Oasis are a naturalistic treasure that is worth visiting. Here it is possible to enjoy lush and untouched nature, discover the history of the region and have a unique experience in nature. If you are a lover of the outdoors and natural beauty, you cannot miss this destination.
